Call for Papers

At TaLC 2024 we are accepting both paper and poster presentations, as well as workshop proposals for the pre-conference workshops.

Submission Details

For paper and poster presentations, please submit an abstract of up to 300 words (including references) here.

For workshop proposals, please submit an abstract of up to 400 words (including references) here.

Presentation Format

Full papers will last 30 minutes, with a 20-minute presentation and 10 minutes for questions.

Posters can present work in progress, research summaries, and presentation of technologies or approaches that you think will benefit from the genre of an academic poster. We recommend that you print posters in portrait A0 size. These will be presented throughout the conference and presenters will have the opportunity to discuss their work at dedicated poster sessions.

Workshops will take place on Sunday July 7th as part of the pre-conference events. Proposals should outline the focus of the workshops, the role of participants in the workshops, the maximum number of participants expected, and any technology or support that the workshop will require. Please also specify how long your workshop will be.

Topics of Interest

Topics that are within the scope of TaLC include, but are not necessarily limited to, corpus-based approaches to language learning, teaching and assessment in the following areas:

  • Teaching first and second languages (including data-driven learning materials and student-centred linguistic investigation)
  • Research on second language acquisition and learner corpus research
  • Learner language
  • Teaching languages for specific purposes, professional purposes, workplaces, business, etc.
  • Using corpora across the curriculum (including all pedagogic contexts)
  • Teaching interpreting and translation 
  • Teaching literature, culture and history 
  • Teaching intercultural communication 
  • Developing pedagogic grammars and learner dictionaries
  • Developing corpora/tools/resources for language learning and teaching
  • Teacher education
  • Teaching of corpus methods to students and researchers
  • Mobile language learning/teaching and corpora
  • Corpora for English-medium instruction
  • Corpus linguistics, digital pedagogy, and learning technologies
